Scottsdale's Premier Golf Experience
The centerpiece of Gainey Ranch's golf program is our impeccably maintained 27-hole championship course, harmoniously set against the awe-inspiring McDowell Mountains.
Michael Poellot, the former chief architect for Robert Trent Jones Jr., and Bradford L. Benz, another renowned golf course designer, designed the golf courses at Gainey Ranch. The two architects worked together to create a challenging and enjoyable golf experience showcasing the Sonoran Desert's natural beauty.
Additionally, we've recently completed renovations to bunkers and putting surfaces, enhancing the overall golfing experience on our 27-hole championship course.
The Lakes Course
With it's lush greenery, sparkling waterways and spectacular waterfall at the ninth hole, The Lakes Course is both a challenging Scottsdale golf course and a delightful one.
The Dunes Course
Surrounded by the indigenous desert, The Dunes course requires accuracy off the tee and a gentle touch on the greens.
The Arroyo Course
As the longest of the three nines, The Arroyo Course requires both power and placement, ending with its infamous peninsular green on No. 9.

About Randy
Randy comes from a long line of “Arizonans." As a 5th generation Arizona native, he completed his high school education at Shadow Mountain High School, attended Phoenix College on a two-year golf scholarship, and then attended Arizona State University. Randy began his golf career in outside service and then as an assistant professional at the old Scottsdale Country Club, followed by an assistant professional position at Acacia Country Club in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Upon returning from Ohio, Randy accepted a position at The Orange Tree Golf Resort, where he spent 27+ years working as an assistant professional, then Head Golf Professional, and finally Director of Golf Operations. Randy has been a Class A Member of the PGA of America - Southwest Section since 1990. Besides his many work accomplishments, Randy has had an extensive and successful playing career within the PGA Southwest Section with numerous individual, professional team, and pro-am victories in both junior (pre-age 50) and now senior tournaments (post-age 50). As a senior player in the Southwest Section PGA, he earned Player of the Year honors in 2017 and again in 2019. Randy's wife Jeanne is a longtime flight attendant with Delta Airlines, and his daughter Taylor is currently a senior at Cactus Shadows High School. We are pleased to have Randy aboard, and this upcoming season will be his 13th season at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club as PGA Director of Player Development.
