Medina Golf Course
# 1 / Hole #1
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 3
Women's 9
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 420
BLUE 401
GREEN 377
RED 374
WHITE 374
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
An out-of-bounds left directs many drives right into the trees leaving a punch out to the fairway. Long hitters can carry the fairway bunker left, leaving a short iron into the green, while shorter hitters should play to the middle or right side of the fairway.
# 2 / Hole #2
Par: 5
Handicaps:
Men's 13
Women's 5
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 581
BLUE 563
GREEN 536
RED 469
WHITE 512
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
A good tee ball leaves a blind second. A long drive can go for the green in two but a shot left of the fairway bunker risks going out of bounds. Safe play on the second shot is to the right of the fairway bunker, leaving a downhill short iron shot into the green.
# 3 / Hole #3
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 13
Women's 5
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 444
BLUE 413
GREEN 400
RED 343
WHITE 363
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
A well-guarded, difficult green with two fairway bunkers on the left force all but the longest hitters to play to the right where a punch-out back to the fairway is going to be the only option. A par 4 here is a victory for players of all skill levels.
# 4 / Hole #4
Par: 3
Handicaps:
Men's 15
Women's 15
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 221
BLUE 180
GREEN 167
RED 138
WHITE 148
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
The large green forces many three-putts. Be aware of the wind as it prevails from your back: You might not need as much club as you think and short is better than right or left.
# 5 / Hole #5
Par: 5
Handicaps:
Men's 9
Women's 1
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 549
BLUE 540
GREEN 505
RED 440
WHITE 465
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Shorter hitters should play to the left fairway bunker while longer hitters can play over the right fairway bunker to leave a chance at reaching the elevated green in two. Beware of two bunkers on the left side of the fairway on your second shot. Coming in to this green from the right side of the fairway on your third shot is a good play and should leave you with an opportunity to putt for birdie.
# 6 / Hole #6
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 5
Women's 7
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 450
BLUE 417
GREEN 386
RED 342
WHITE 380
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
The fairway bunker on the right side of this hole is a good aiming point off the tee and only the longer hitters will reach it. The green is well guarded and has many subtle breaks that can catch you off guard. Proceed to number 7 with a par on this hole and you've done really well.
# 7 / Hole #7
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 7
Women's 11
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 424
BLUE 388
GREEN 380
RED 300
WHITE 346
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
The water on the right comes into play very differently depending on the teeing areas being used and the wind should be carefully checked when setting up your strategy on how to play the hole. Being short of the green on your second shot is an easier par save than being over the green, regardless of the hole location.
# 8 / Hole #8
Par: 3
Handicaps:
Men's 11
Women's 17
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 190
BLUE 175
GREEN 170
RED 104
WHITE 162
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
An innocent enough looking hole that can surprise you, No. 8 tends to play a little longer than the yardage due to a prevailing breeze and elevated green. Large bunkers left and right of the green will capture errant shots making par a difficult score.
# 9 / Hole #9
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 17
Women's 13
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 438
BLUE 353
GREEN 344
RED 269
WHITE 310
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Here's your chance to pick up a shot from that bogey you just made on 8. A long tee ball is not needed or advised as water across the fairway in front of the green is reachable when conditions are dry. Just play something off the tee to put yourself in the fairway for a relatively easy short second shot. A chance to carry some much-needed confidence into the challenging back nine.
# 10 / Hole #10
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 14
Women's 4
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 415
BLUE 394
GREEN 371
RED 346
WHITE 366
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
The water on the left is farther than it looks and only the longer hitters will reach it. The ideal tee shot is in the fairway but missing to the right rather than the left usually leaves a better angle for your second shot.
# 11 / Hole #11
Par: 5
Handicaps:
Men's 16
Women's 10
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 539
BLUE 506
GREEN 499
RED 451
WHITE 476
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Longer hitters should have no trouble carrying the fairway bunkers on the left to leave a good chance to reach this green on the second shot. Most players should play their tee ball to the right of the bunkers and then their second shot to the left, leaving a good angle into the green for the third shot. Hitting your ball into the right-side fairway bunker leaves an awkward distance bunker shot for your next shot.
# 12 / Hole #12
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 4
Women's 12
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 395
BLUE 359
GREEN 351
RED 302
WHITE 307
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
This short par 4 can be parred or birdied with a good tee shot on the left side of the fairway. Unless you're going to hit a long tee shot, avoid hitting your tee ball down the right side or you'll be blocked out by trees and par will become a difficult score.
# 13 / Hole #13
Par: 3
Handicaps:
Men's 16
Women's 6
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 248
BLUE 220
GREEN 175
RED 146
WHITE 171
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
A very difficult par 3 that requires an accurate tee shot to have a reasonable chance at par. Keep the ball in play and you should make no worse than par but hit your tee ball too far right or left and you may be thinking this is the shortest par 5 on the course.
# 14 / Hole #14
Par: 5
Handicaps:
Men's 10
Women's 8
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 555
BLUE 536
GREEN 496
RED 439
WHITE 457
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Your safe play is to hit the tee shot down the left side, but avoid going too far left and going out of bounds. The second shot of a drive down the left will need to be played to the right side of the fairway for a relatively easy third shot into the green. If you're hitting the tee ball well then take a chance and hug the right side with your tee ball to leave a reasonable chance to reach this green in two, but beware the trees on the right.
# 15 / Hole #15
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 8
Women's 14
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 378
BLUE 365
GREEN 348
RED 323
WHITE 327
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
A short par 4 that requires a well-placed tee shot to make birdie or par. Out-of-bounds left is easily reached, and the trees all the way down the left side can make for a long venture to the green. Faders should take advantage of this hole while drawers need to be careful with club selection and direction off the tee.
# 16 / Hole #16
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 6
Women's 12
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 400
BLUE 385
GREEN 380
RED 340
WHITE 350
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Bombs away! You don't really have to hit a driver but why not let it rip? The left fairway bunker can be carried with a good tee shot and the right fairway bunker is only reached by the longer hitters, so fear not. Beware the green, however, as 3-putts are not uncommon on No. 16.
# 17 / Hole #17
Par: 3
Handicaps:
Men's 18
Women's 18
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 170
BLUE 160
GREEN 137
RED 105
WHITE 124
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Aiming for the middle of the green on this short par 3 leaves a reasonable birdie chance and a likely par, regardless of the hole location. Hit an errant pin-hunting shot and you could find yourself heading to the final hole with a disappointing bogey.
# 18 / Hole #18
Par: 4
Handicaps:
Men's 2
Women's 2
Yardage by Tee:
BLACK 450
BLUE 425
GREEN 388
RED 358
WHITE 366
Slope:
Black 136 / Blue 131 / Green 129 / White 126 / Red 125
Pro Tips
Regardless of how your round has gone, go into this difficult par 4 with a lot of confidence. A slight fade off the tee that starts down the left side is ideal for a clear second shot into this big green. A tee ball too far right or too far left and you'll be dodging trees to make your way up to the green. Make par (or a rare birdie here) will leave you feeling really good about yourself and eager to come back for another round.
